The municipality of Emmen is releasing 10,000 euros for aid to the earthquake area in Morocco

The municipality of Emmen is making 10,000 euros available for victims of the earthquake in Morocco.

The money will benefit the Moroccan organizations in Emmen that are committed to helping the victims of the earthquake. “There is a humanitarian disaster,” says Mayor Eric van Oosterhout. “Every day we are confronted with poignant images of people who have lost everything, family, loved ones and have become homeless from one moment to the next.”

The mayor was approached this week by the chairman of the Moroccan mosque to ask whether the municipality would be willing to help. A fundraising campaign has started from the Moroccan community in Emmen. The aim is to collect as much medicine and food as possible.

Similar actions are being held in more places in the Netherlands. The intention is that the collected items will be transported from Amsterdam to Morocco.
