The municipality does this for a safe New Year’s Eve celebration in Zoetermeer

The municipality takes measures every year in December so that we can celebrate New Year’s Eve safely together in Zoetermeer. You can read what exactly that is below.

Of course we will make it a fun New Year’s Eve together, but something can always happen. The municipality and Haaglanden Safety Region, which includes the fire brigade and police in Zoetermeer, prepare well every year.

Pre-measures

The municipality will remove flammable materials from the streets and the underground waste containers will close on December 31 at 4 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day. The waste bins on the street will be closed as always and the parking garages on Osylaan and under the CKC will be closed from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Day (until 9 a.m. on January 1).

Measures afterwards

The police carry out extra surveillance and take strict action against vandalism and violence. Around New Year’s Eve, the fire brigade is ready with extra people to take quick action in the event of an emergency. Enforcement Team and private security guards are active in places with more than average nuisance and near buildings. Do you want to put a fire pit on the street? Then place a layer of sand underneath. This way there is no damage to the road surface. In addition, it is wise to remove flammable materials from around your house or in the street.

The municipality also asks you to keep an eye on things. Do you see anything suspicious? Then notify the police via 0900-8844.
