Australian track cycling world champion by Melissa Dennis (née Hoskins) more information has been received about the situation that led to his death, Australian newspapers reported.
Dennis died on the last weekend of the year after being hit by a four-wheel-drive pickup truck driven by her husband.
Dennis’s husband is an ex-cyclist Rohan Denniswho has won an Olympic medal in both track and road cycling.
According to The Australian magazine, the situation that led to the death started around eight o’clock in the evening. Melissa Dennis jumped on the hood of the pickup truck, tried to grab the door handle and stop the car driven by her husband.
According to the newspaper, Rohan Dennis did not stop the car, even though his wife was on the hood. The man stopped only after Melissa Dennis had fallen from the car and dragged herself on the road.
– This is traumatic and really unusual. The truth has to come out because something happened, a person who lives near the Dennises told The Australian.
Rohan Dennis was arrested but has been released on bail. The man is charged with manslaughter. The trial is scheduled to begin in March.
The Dennises have two children together.
