After the municipal elections and before the imminent arrival of the general elections on July 23, interest arises in the population regarding the electoral process. In Spain we have a very simple process, we just have to show the National Identity Document and the person in charge at the polling station will check our identification.
However, this process is not used in all countries, instead they use other strategies to ensure voter identification. In Colombia, Mexico, India and Guatemalaused a kind of ink that is poured on the finger to mark the person who has already cast their vote in the ballot box.
This process is still in operation today and the liquid used to mark the person’s finger is resistant to acetone, chlorine or other solvents such as white spirit. Although it may seem like ink to us, it is about a pigmenter that reacts with skin cells and lasts 12 hourss.
