For days, the hurricanes “Ylenia” and “Zeynep” caused a lot of work – now the most active state of emergency in the history of the capital’s fire brigade is over.
A total of 15,300 emergency calls have been received by the fire brigade since Thursday, as the Berlin fire brigade announced on Sunday evening – that is a maximum.
The emergency services had to be deployed to around 4,000 weather-related operations between Thursday morning and Sunday afternoon – more than ever before.
“To illustrate the enormous number of hits: the Berlin fire brigade deployed every 30 seconds during the period mentioned,” said the control center.

There has been a “state of emergency weather” in the capital three times since Thursday evening. Three people were injured during the storms, including a firefighter.
According to the police, he was pushed by a drunk 50-year-old during night-time clearing work in Spandau and suffered minor injuries in the shoulder. The attacker is now being investigated for assaulting a firefighter, it said on Saturday.
