The ceremony has left memorable moments, especially during the presentations and speeches of the winners
The Emmy awards ceremony, like all galas of this type, always gives moments to remember, humorous moments, unexpected waste of art… and the 2022 gala has not been spared from these moments either.
One of the most commented came when the presenter of the gala, Kenan Thompsonaffirmed that the young protagonist of ‘Euphoria’, Zendaya, is she too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio? after having turned 26 a couple of weeks ago. “Zendaya just turned 26. 26 is a strange age in Hollywood. You’re young enough to play a high school student but too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio,” snapped the comedian before the astonished gaze of the guests and the Zendaya herself, who hid her face upon hearing the joke.

In an unrepeatable moment of pure talent, Sheryl Lee Ralph started singing after receiving the award for best supporting actress in a comedy series for ‘Colegio Abbott’. The interpreter clinched her speech with an emotional plea for the will to believe in oneself. “To anyone who’s ever had a dream and thought its owner couldn’t come true… I’m here to tell you that this is what ‘believing’ looks like, this is what ‘fighting’ looks like. And never, ever give up on yourself.”

The trio made up of Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short also provoked laughter from the audience in a presentation full of humor. Martin Short began praising the public, assuring that he would like to “box them and take them home as if they were classified documents from the White House”, in a clear reference to the latest controversy regarding former President Donald Trump. Steve Martin, with a circumstantial face, asked the actress “Selena, how much time do we have?”, To which the artist replied “I don’t know, with a good diet and exercise, maybe 10 or 12 years.”
The exchanges and small puyas between them They continued with phrases like “tonight, when I was on the red carpet -which I have at home-, I thought about the difference between being in a movie and on television. And I realized that the difference is that on television Martin ( Short) give him work.” The interpreter wasted no time to hit back, comparing Steve Martin with Angela Lansbury, and Selena Gomez finished off the little ‘sketch’ by asking the public if they knew what was the best thing about working with them… and then keeping a long silence before to give as an answer “there are no paparazzi. Ever”.
