The editorial staff of EL PERIÓDICO is a living being that, when it breathes to the fullest, is unbeatable. This has happened in the last seven days in which the newspaper has focused on sexual assaults among minors in Badalona. The director Albert Sáez proposed that one of the main coverage of the week had to focus on the group rapes that occurred in the city and in the Màgic shopping center. The objective was to better understand the trickle of cases from a police, social services and citizen perspective. It would not have been necessary to ask for it, because the heads of the Society and Barcelona areas (Montse Baraza, Núria Marrón and Txell Pauné) had already made this the focus of their week, with the journalists Guillem Sánchez, Elisenda Colell and Gerardo Santos on the land.
The result, more than brilliant, culminated yesterday with the triple gaze of Colell, who collected the voices of the children on the streets of Badalona -from the same circles as the alleged aggressors, from other victims of the minors under investigation and from the adults.
The economic and social deterioration of the Màgic and its surrounding neighborhoods that our x-ray has verified cannot be extrapolated one hundred percent to other territories, nor is the gypsy root of some of the minors. But there are repeating patterns that need to be addressed.
