The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is developing a set of amendments to the legislation that would allow law enforcement officers to seize the property of drug dealers, Sergey Lebedev, Deputy Interior Minister and Head of the Investigative Department of the department, told Interfax.
“In order to increase the efficiency of work on the seizure of drug proceeds amendments to the legislation are being prepared to allow the confiscation of property from drug dealers, by analogy with terrorist and corruption crimes,” he said.
According to Lebedev, there are now cases where drug traffickers acquire expensive real estate and vehicles, although they do not have legal sources of income.
