The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the Armed Forces had completed all the main tasks in the Kiev and Chernihiv directions as part of a special operation in Ukraine. Now a planned regrouping of troops is taking place in the directions, said Major General Igor Konashenkov, a representative of the department.
“At the first stage of a special military operation carried out by the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Donbass and Ukraine, it was planned to force the enemy to concentrate his forces, means, resources and military equipment to hold large settlements in these areas, including Kyiv,” he explained.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the military command planned to pin down the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield and inflict such a defeat that would not allow Kiev to use its military forces in the Donbas direction, which the Russian Armed Forces have identified as the main one for themselves.
“All these goals were achieved,” Konashenkov stressed.
