Chess grandmaster and five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen wrote a lyric in the message service X that many Finns recognize.

Carlsen used Bomfunk MC’s from Turku Freestyler-song lyrics, as he was promoting a major freestyle chess tournament currently underway in Germany.
Freestyler was Europe’s best-selling single in 2000.
That passage from the song refers to how a person comes up with something on their own. Carlsen was personally involved in inventing freestyle chess GOAT Challenge tournament.
The Norwegian superstar wanted to develop a meaningful tournament format for himself, as he was tired of the sport’s traditional World Championship format. He missed the World Cup in 2023 and will not participate this year either.
Freestyle chess is also known as chess960 or FischerRandom chess. The game differs from regular chess in that the king, queen, bishops, knights and rooks are lined up in random order.
There are a total of 960 possible opening positions for pieces.
