The mayors of Sitges and Vilanova denounce the “overflow” of passengers on the R2 of Rodalies

The service, both mayors write, “offers conditions of absolute overflow of passengers in the few trains that circulate”, which is forcing many citizens, they regret, to “use the private vehicle“. “As of today, Renfe-Adif has not yet offered no alternative transportation“, they complain, something that Renfein fact, has amended this morning with bus departures every half hour between Castelldefels and Barcelona, ​​between 6:30 and 9:00. In the afternoon, there are buses to Gavà and Castelldefels from the Catalan capital between 5 and 7 p.m. In total, Renfe calculates that every week it will be able to cover some 30,000 seats thanks to the complementary buses for which Rodalies transport tickets will be valid.

In their letter, Arnau and Carbonell also warn of the economic consequences that can lead to a breakdown in the Gavà station. That is why they claim Adif information and specificity about the period of affectations after this newspaper warned that in an internal document of the railway public manager there is talk of up to four months to recover 100% of the operation. This would affect, they point out, squarely in the summer tourist season. The two ERC mayors end their letter to the director of Rodalies by recalling the infrastructure investment deficit. According to his calculations, only 30% of what was promised has been carried out.
