“The manager” revived interest in Jorge Mangeri’s current affairs

“The one in charge”the series starring William Francella that is breaking records in Star+, continues to cause a stir. The character of the story, a dark building manager, unleashed the fury of a group of workers in the field who feel that the series “dirties them”. “In my building now they look at me kind of weird. It not only affected me, but also my colleagues. (…) First they touched us with the issue of Mangeri, that you couldn’t stop in the street to look at anyone because they already told you that you were a murderer and now with The Manager it sank us even worse, “he complained in a statement Diego Trejounion leader. But he did not stop there, but also aroused the interest of the public to know what is the life of Jorge Mangeri, the murderer of Ángeles Rawson, who is currently serving his life sentence in the Federal Penitentiary Complex I of Ezeiza

The crime, which occurred in 2013, shook society. Not only because of the brutality of the femicide – Ángeles was suffocated, wrapped in a bag and found in the waste treatment plant of the Ceamse of Jose Leon Suarez – if not because it unleashed the paranoia of those who lived in apartment buildings, fearful that their managers could also be criminals in disguise.

Today, Mangeri is dedicated to cleaning tasks in his sector, module 1 pavilion C, where he is serving his sentence along with other inmates whose crimes had public repercussions, such as the former Callejeros drummer Edward Vasquez, who was convicted of the crime of his wife Wanda Taddei; or the former head of the Railway Union Jose Pedrazasentenced for the crime of the militant Mariano Ferreyra. From the penitentiary they affirm that he is introverted, and that “he does not have a group of belonging within the pavilion”.

The details of the femicide

Mangeri murdered Angeles Rawson on June 10, 2013, in the morning. He then attempted to dispose of the sixteen-year-old’s body by dumping it in a dumpster at the time she took out the garbage each day. But Angeles’ body was found by one of the workers at the Ceamse the next day.

Initially, research pointed to Sergio Opatowski, Angeles’ stepfather, as the main suspect, but finally Mangeri was discovered. When they checked on him, they found that he had various scratch injuries that he had tried to hide with burns. These scratches were the key evidence against Mangeri: the DNA comparison determined that under the nail of the index finger of Ángeles’ right hand was the goalkeeper’s genetic profile, an attempt to defend the victim.

As he received the maximum sentence, Mangeri will be able to request his parole just after 35 years of imprisonment, that is, in 2048, within 26 years, although it is not mandatory that he be granted that benefit. By then, the criminal will be 80 years old.

Jimena Aduriz, mother of Ángeles, told several times that she could not believe that it was the person in charge of her building who had perpetrated this crime against her daughter. Although Mangeri obtained her conviction, Aduriz affirms that although “Mangeri is going to be in prison for 35 years, the girl will not come back.”
