Las Vegas Fox5 news site says that before the last NHL final game of the season, the police arrested a dangerous man who was planning a shocking bloodbath.
According to several media sources, the 33-year-old was arrested by the police Matthew DeSavio threatened on social media to stage a mass shooting at Tuesday night’s final game between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Florida Panthers.
DeSavio is described as mentally unstable and has reportedly caused problems with authorities in the past. He is accused of harassment, stalking, violating a restraining order and threatening terrorist acts.
According to the police, the woman who suffered from the man’s behavior warned the police. The woman said that the man had been harassing and watching her for nine years, and had shared on social media about his intentions of a mass shooting at the T-Mobile arena.
– Guys, I’m coming there tonight. I hope you can get all the police there to defend you, one of DeSavio’s messages says.
DeSavio was caught in Las Vegas just a few hours before the final game started. Police reports did not reveal whether the man had any weapons in his possession.
Las Vegas has a dark spot in its recent history regarding mass shootings. In the fall of 2017, a man from Nevada shot from a hotel room window into the audience of an outdoor concert, killing 61 people. Several hundred were injured. The shooting scene in question is the bloodiest in modern US history.
DeSavio had referred to the event in question several times in his messages.
The trial of the arrested man will start next week.
