Britney Spears was released from a 13-year guardianship relationship in November 2021. During that time, her father managed many aspects of her personal life and career. Spears has on many occasions accused her father of abuse of power and, for example, of forcing her to use contraception. In a scathing article by the Daily Mail, it is written that the “often strange” social media updates that Spears has published since her guardianship have caused concern that Spears’ mental health is fragile.
