Fans have been waiting eagerly for the new track from the announced album “Zeit” – now it’s here: With “Zick Zack” the Berlin Neue-Deutsche-Härte-Band has released a controversial track, as one is used to from the group. And the video doesn’t disappoint either – the musicians can be seen as operated beauties who are being celebrated by an elderly group of viewers.
As always, the text was written by Till Lindemann. In it, the singer addresses aesthetic and plastic interventions, which are lightly dismissed as a beauty craze: lose a few kilos, inject something here. If this world is alien to you and you don’t want to make any changes to yourself, Rammstein will surely agree that such plastic activism has a questionable aftertaste.
However, the line “Isn’t the woman in the man happy, it’s all gone anyway,” could be viewed critically, since Rammstein seems to lump plastic surgery with gender reassignment procedures in the same pot. While cosmetic surgery is not only performed because of psychological stress, but because it corresponds to a certain ideal of beauty or trend, for some trans people gender reassignment surgery is an important and well-considered step in order to be able to lead a fulfilling life.
Rammstein: “Zick Zack” lyrics to read
Nicer, bigger, harder
Tighter, smoother, stronger
Your breasts are too small
Two pounds of silicone is fine
Sacks cut from the eyes
Mill your nose, suck off fat
We quickly remove two ribs
Inflatable boat tinker from the lips
In the cheeks, in the forehead
Botox into the brain
Zig zag, zig zag, cut it off
Zig zag, zig zag, short and sweet
All sagging above the chin
Can be pulled in the neck
implants in the vessel
And we lift the buttocks
Knife, swab, general anesthesia
Seven kilos of riding trousers and
Belly fat in the bio bin
The penis now sees the sun again
Zig zag, zig zag, cut that off
Tick tock, tick tock, you’re getting old
Your time is running out slowly
If you want to be beautiful, you also have to suffer
Cut out and cut away and cut off
Needle, thread, scissors, light
But it doesn’t work without pain
Tighten cheeks, carve cheekbones
Splash hazardous waste into lips
Wrinkles rustle on the scalpel
Foreskin gone, very topical
Isn’t the woman in the man happy?
All gone anyway
Zig zag, zig zag, cut that off
Tick tock, tick tock, you’re old
Your time is running out slowly
If you want to be beautiful, you also have to suffer
Vanity is never modest
Needle, thread, scissors, light
But it doesn’t work without pain
Nicer, bigger, harder
Tighter, smoother, stronger
