The Lycra Company launches new Lycra Adaptive fibers

The LYCRA Company, a global leader in the development of innovative and sustainable fiber and technology solutions for the apparel and hygiene industries, launches two new elastane fibers: LYCRA ADAPTIV BLACK fiber and LYCRA ADAPTIV XTRA LIFE fiber.

Longevity as an added benefit for popular size-inclusive fashion

The LYCRA Company has expanded its LYCRA ADAPTIV fiber portfolio to meet the market’s need for durable clothing with a wider range of sizes, improved comfort and functionality. To this end, the company is introducing two new fibers that combine the advantages of the original fiber with the additional properties of two high-performance brand technologies to offer an even better wearing comfort.

The LYCRA ADAPTIV BLACK fiber was developed for long-lasting active and athleisure wear. It helps reduce fiber breakage and damage caused by UV rays, sunscreen and sports anti-chafing creams that can negatively impact a garment’s fit, functionality and durability. This technology also provides a permanent, spun-in deep black color that does not fade and minimizes fiber show-through. Apparel manufacturers and brands can use this versatile fiber to create multi-size garments that fit like a second skin and are comfortable to wear.

LYCRA ADAPTIV XTRA LIFE fiber is the solution for durable swimwear and activewear that lasts up to ten times longer than garments with unprotected elastane. At the same time, the new fiber offers shaping and shaping, dynamic comfort and a wider fit window to accommodate different body shapes. It also makes it easy to put on and take off.

“Our findings show that consumers are increasingly choosing quality over quantity in their wardrobe,” said Steve Stewart, Chief Brand and Innovation Officer, The LYCRA Company. “Consumers are investing in fewer but higher quality garments that they can wear longer. LYCRA ADAPTIV BLAC and LYCRA ADAPTIV XTRA LIFE fibers bring the benefits of durability to our most popular fiber — a winning combination for consumers and our customers looking to meet their needs and desires.”

The LYCRA Company is also launching the new sustainability campaign “Waste for Good” in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2023. The message promotes the advancement of circular economy in the apparel and textile industry with COOLMAX EcoMade and THERMOLITE EcoMade technologies made from recycled content.
