The US fiber manufacturer The Lycra Company is getting a new boss. On Monday, the company announced the appointment of Gary Smith as CEO. He will take up the position on November 27, The Lycra Company said.
Smith succeeds Dean Williams, who has been leading the company on an interim basis since August. Williams will remain chief financial officer and will be involved in the upcoming leadership transition, according to a statement.
According to his future employer, the designated company boss is an “industry veteran” with more than 25 years of experience in the consumer goods industry. Most recently, Smith was CEO of the boat builder Hatteras Yachts Inc., and before that he headed, among other things, the textile company Polartec and the outdoor division of Timberland.
