Released on December 9th last year, Roger Waters’ “The Lockdown Sessions” will be released on physical sound carriers on June 2nd. It includes six reinterpretations from both his Pink Floyd and solo days.
“Our ‘Us and Them’ tour lasted three years… At every gig we played ‘Mother’ as an encore to the show which ended with ‘Comfortably Numb’. At some point I decided to also play other songs as encores and after the tour I thought to myself: ‘This could be an interesting album’, the not undisputed musician explained about the sessions. And further: “And then came Covid. […] That was the end of the ‘Encores’ project. At least for now. We have ‘Comfortably Number’ packed at the end of the collection, so to speak as an exclamation point that closes the circle”.
The 79-year-old is currently on his “This Is Not A Drill” tour, the background noise of which seems louder than the actual concerts. He recently compared himself indirectly to Sophie Scholl. Again and again – especially in Frankfurt – due to the ongoing allegations of anti-Semitism, concert cancellations and performance bans are discussed, against which the Brit defends himself. A legal dispute is threatening in the city on the Main, and protest actions in the course of his show have already been announced in Berlin.
