The Lions of Sicily by Stefania Auci: off to the series with Miriam Leone

D.fter the success of the Be ignorant and in anticipation of the fourth season of Boris, Disney + announces the start of filming of the new Italian original series The Lions of Sicilya family saga based on the best-seller of the same name Stefania Auci, filming of which is taking place between Rome and Sicily. At the reins of the project is the director of Perfect strangers Paolo Genovese who for the first time directs a TV series.

The Lions of Sicily: the plot

The series follows the events of Florio family. The brothers Paolo and Ignazio are two small spice traders who fled from a Calabria anchored in the past and in search of social redemption. In Sicily they invent a future, where starting from a shabby shop they give life to a flourishing business that the young son of Paolo, Vincenzo, with his revolutionary ideasit will then transform into an empire.

To upset Vincenzo’s life and that of the whole family thinks about it Giulia, a strong and intelligent womanin contrast to the rigid rules of the society of the time. The Lions of Sicily is the story of an epic made of love, family, successes, wars and revolutionswhich takes place in Sicily from the nineteenth century up to the Unification of Italy in 1861.

To interpret Vincenzo Florio is Michele Riondinowhile Miriam Leone plays the role of Giulia Portalupi, the woman who upsets the family. Eduardo Scarpettaadopted by Disney (he was already the protagonist of The ignorant fairies) is Ignazio Florio (son of Vincenzo) e Paolo Briguglia plays the part of Ignazio Florio (Paolo’s brother). Vinicio Marchioni plays Paolo Florio, while Donatella Finocchiaro Giuseppina (daughter of Vincenzo). Ester Pantano, the beautiful Sicilian of fiction Makari, plays Giuseppina young and Adele Cammarata Giovanna D’Ondes, wife of Ignazio (son of Vincenzo).

Paolo Genovese’s first time directing a TV series
