The Ostend and VLAS police zones (Kortrijk, Kuurne and Lendelede), among others, have been using such decoy bicycles for some time. This led to several arrests of bicycle thieves last year. But until now, authorization from the public prosecutor’s office was always required to use such a decoy bicycle. After each arrest, an investigation was conducted to determine whether everything had gone correctly. With the new law, this is no longer necessary. The intention is that police zones will use such a decoy bicycle more often from now on.
