A big announcement from The Libertines will follow on October 13th. Find out more here.
The Libertines have teased a big announcement for Friday (October 13). On Monday (October 9th) they shared a clip with archive footage via X (formerly Twitter) – backed by an excerpt from an unreleased song. There are also newer pictures from the English hotel The Albion Rooms. The band has a recording studio there.
The indie group announced a new work in 2019. In September, drummer Gary Powell confirmed in an interview that new music would not be long in coming. “We just recorded our new album,” Powell said. “I think we do one every ten years or so. Yes. So expect the next album to come out of the grave,” he said jokingly. He then added: “The album is coming in January [2024] out of here.”
It will be The Libertines’ first record since they released ANTHEMS FOR DOOMED YOUTH in 2015. A lot is said to have changed in music, as frontman Carl Barât announced in 2019. “Sonically we want to do something we haven’t done before,” Barât told NME. “I think we want to do something with a different energy than before. But we’re not at that stage yet.”
