This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut album, Up the Bracket. The Libertines are taking this anniversary as an opportunity to go on a European tour in autumn.
The tour will also take the band to Germany for some concerts. Between October 28th and November 8th, 2022, The Libertines want to play three concerts in Cologne, Hamburg and Munich. Tickets for the shows are available here.
In addition, The Libertines are currently working on their new album. Guitarist and co-vocalist Carl Barât said they are currently working on new songs with The Prodigy mastermind Liam Howlett. According to Barât, the new album will probably be “the most experimental that the band has ever recorded”. A release date has not yet been set.
The Libertines were founded in 1997, but in addition to their debut album in 2002, they only released one other regular album with “The Libertines” before their temporary separation in 2004, which was partly due to the addiction problems of singer and guitarist Peter Doherty.
After that, Doherty with the Babyshambles and Barât with Dirty Pretty Things each pursued their own projects. In 2014 they reunited with The Libertines, and in 2015 they released their third studio album, Anthem for Doomed Youth.
