Only one English club has won the coveted treble.
In the spring of 1999, Manchester United were crowned winners of both the Premier League and the FA Cup before, after dramatic stages, they also captured the Champions League in the Camp Nou final.
Now the club has a chance to close Manchester City’s treble.
– If City scores an early goal, it marches to an easy victory. But if United can frustrate them, they can grab the title, treble heroes Andy Cole predicted on a betting site.
Cole played an important role in United’s historic achievement. According to him, City as an institution is still plagued by the mentality of a small club.
– It’s really strange that I hear comments from fans of the club that they would rather beat United in the Cup final than the Champions League. I don’t think they understand what it’s all about.
According to Cole, City still compare themselves to United.
– They are obsessed with United. Manchester City’s history will never be like that of United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. These clubs have won through the years. And what happens when Pep Guardiola leave the club. Will it continue to dominate the Premier League, Cole wondered.
