The brilliant success of the film ‘Alcarràs’, directed by Carla Simón, has not prevented it from being immersed in a controversy on Twitter on account of the language in which it is being shown in the different cinemas in Catalonia. Dozens of tweeters have criticized the fact that several rooms have offered the version of the film in Catalan with subtitles Castilian.
Through Twitter they have questioned the need for subtitles and other users have explained which theaters offered the film only in Catalan.

Simón assumes the need for dubbing
In a interview with Vilawebthe director of ‘Alcarràs’ has assumed the need for this type of dubbing to be able to reach more cinemas: “It’s not that I’m excited. I won’t see it dubbed, it seems very strange to me. But the dubbing problem in Spain hasn’t been fixed. If we want people to see it , we must dub the film into Spanish, either we dub it or they won’t see it. theaters that do not accept the film if we do not dub it into Spanish. In the end we had to do it. We think it’s more important for people to see“.
A critical and popular success
‘Alcarràs’ premiered this Friday in cinemas after the triumph in the Berlin International Film Festival and recognition in Malaga Festival.
The film has become premiere most viewed of the weekend in cinemas from Spainwith more than 10,000 viewers, according to the ranking published by ComscoreMoviesSpain. In addition, on Friday and Saturday it was the most watched movie in Catalonia and the third in Spainbeing the first in average per copy taking into account that only in 169 screens.
The film tells the story of the last fruit harvest of a family on a farm in Segrià before the owners installed solar panels. After the emotional journey of ‘Estiu 1993’, Simón gravitates once again to family relationships and the clashes between the various generations that live together.
