She did it! With more than eight hundred meters, Sportfest beats Volendam, Mega Monster Mud challenge, which set a new record last year. With the record, the organization wants to earn a place in the Guinness Book of Records. “Genius! I have no words for it”, says organizer Lucas Keizer. Proceeds from the obstacle course go to charity.
Volunteers from the organization were the first to hit the track during the try-out today. Only a few completed the gigantic jump and scramble in the sweltering sun. “It is really very heavy”, Keizer says about the 806 meter long track. On Friday it will be the turn of the students of Volendam to be sponsored. In the evening, adults are allowed to try to run the tough track.
The profit of the project will go to the Huis aan het water foundation. An institution where people with cancer and their families can relax. “Our intention is to raise 10,000 euros and then it will be doubled by the cancer fund,” says Keizer. The huge scaffolding only stands for a day.
