The festival, which is visited by many Groningen residents, will be opened next Wednesday. The party lasts through Sunday and the old town of Leer is full of market stalls, fairgrounds and other attractions. A large livestock market, with 800 to 1000 animals, is a regular part of the event. The expected number of visitors: at least half a million.
