The deployment of American THAAD anti-missile systems near the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv would further destabilize the situation, said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, reports TASS.
“This would be another step towards destabilizing the situation,” Peskov said.
Earlier, an agency source in diplomatic circles said that Kiev asked Washington to supply Ukraine with several divisions of American THAAD anti-missile systems and place them in the Kharkov region.

The interlocutor of the agency added that the complex includes an AN / TPY-2 radar station. With its help, Ukraine will be able to monitor the aerospace situation over a significant part of Russia and “look” deep into the country’s territory at a distance of up to 1,000 km. together with NATO allies, the source noted.
