To commemorate the 50th anniversary, two Kinks albums will be re-released as box sets on September 9th: Muswell Hillbillies and Everybody’s In Show-Biz – Everybody’s A Star. The new version of the song “Celluloid Heroes” can already be heard as a taste test.
The so-called “deluxe box” contains a lot: 6 LPs, 4 CDs, AV Blu-ray, a 52-page book, printed band photos, a Muswell card and a pin. In addition, “Muswell Hillbillies / Everybody’s In Show-Biz – Everybody’s A Star” will also be released as a 2CD set and as a double LP. The record “Everybody’s In Show-Biz – Everybody’s A Star” is also available on LP and “Muswell Hillbillies” as a single CD. The new editions can here be pre-ordered.
First single
The impatient can already listen to the new version of “Celluloid Heroes” from the 1972 album “Everybody’s In Show-Biz – Everybody’s A Star”. The song was composed by Ray Davies and is about the pursuit of fame. Stars like Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo are sung about.
“Now, with a new record company and a new image, I can infuse some of that old Wild West spirit into my music,” said Ray Davies of the re-release. The two albums would document the Kinks’ “reemergence” as a “touring band.” Incidentally, Muswell Hillbillies is one of his brother Dave’s favorite albums.
