After searches against climate activists from the “Last Generation” group, the public prosecutor’s office in Neuruppin received several hundred self-reports from supporters.

There are currently 426 self-accusations, as spokesman for the investigative authority, Cyrill Clement, said on Wednesday. “The content is being checked.” He did not comment on further questions.

The group previously shared on Twitter that 1,332 people had informed the Neuruppin prosecutor’s office over the holidays that they considered themselves part of the “last generation”.

About two weeks ago, the police and public prosecutors carried out searches in several federal states against the climate protection demonstrators. The leading public prosecutor’s office in Neuruppin is also examining the suspicion of forming a criminal organization.

There is a suspicion that the purpose of the group is at least aimed at committing crimes of “sufficient weight”, it said. It’s about attacks by climate activists on the PCK oil refinery in Schwedt in north-eastern Brandenburg.

Documents and data were confiscated during the searches. The spokesman for the authorities did not comment on the status of the procedure on Wednesday. The investigation was still in its infancy, it said.

In Berlin, according to the police, climate protection demonstrators blocked streets 276 times in just under a year, and there were other criminal actions. Around 500 active supporters of the last generation have been arrested by the police in Berlin so far.
