The judges ask to investigate the “reckless interventions” of Cristina Kirchner’s lawyers

The judges Andres Basso, Jorge Gorini and Jorge Giménez Uriburu were left upset with the action of some lawyers who participated in the oral debate in the trial for the Cause Road. “Four of the defenses, made up of the Carlos Beraldi and Ary Llernovoy (Cristina Kirchner), Federico Paruolo and Matías Galván (Nelson Perroti), Maximiliano Rusconi and Gabriel Palmeiro (Julio De Vido), and Enrique Arce and Nicolás Guzmán (Carlos Kirchner), dedicated a large part of the procedural instances provided for the exercise of their magisterium to install the idea that, since its inception, this case had the purpose of delegitimizing those assisted in order to politically disqualify them or persecute them for bearing their last name or for their ideological or partisan identification”, begins the discharge of the magistrates that will end with the request to oversee the role of lawyers.

“Thus, they joined efforts to review circumstances that, from their perspective, constituted irrefutable proof that the process constituted a true political persecution,” continues the letter and emphasizes the work of Carlos Beraldi: “The former President’s lawyers also listed the large number of cases in which she was accused, trying to demonstrate the way in which said judicial war materialized”, the judges continued and also referred to specific accusations against them.

“They granted the same persecutory purpose to the opportunity chosen by this court for the oral trial to begin a few months before the 2019 elections, as a piece of information that generated at least suspicions about the intention of damaging their image in the face of the elections”, they described and also alluded to accusations against the role of the media: “In the middle of the debate, the same parties directed attacks on the mass media that were identified by the defendants, under this logic, as allied operators and essential for the formation of opinion in society.”

Before announcing the measures they will take, the court questions the effectiveness of the work of CFK’s defender: “He does not deny or explain the facts that were proven or the evidence that proves them.” Finally, the judges announce that they will notify the authority in charge of the Public Bar Association of the Federal Capital so that “monitor reckless professional interventions” of the registered lawyers who participated in the trial. According to the law that regulates the activity of defenders, they have a duty to “behave with loyalty, probity and good faith in professional performance.”
