The judge has not yet allowed the judge to definitively stop healthcare training for Indonesian students

Positive news for the group of Indonesian students who still work for Zorggroep Drenthe and Zorggroep Tangenborgh. The judge has ruled that the Avans+ training institute must continue with the training they are following. In November, Avans+ announced that it would stop the training Bachelor of Nursing International. The judge has ruled that Avans+ must first await the outcome of an investigation by the Labor Inspectorate before the training can be stopped.

About half of the 40 students who started a process of studying and working at Zorggroep Drenthe in November 2021 have already dropped out. The project that was presented by Zorggroep Drenthe as an innovative solution to the staff shortage in healthcare had already died a silent death.

Training institute Avans+ was taken to court by mediator Yomema. According to Yomema, Avans+ was too premature in permanently stopping the training. Yomema has now been vindicated by the judge.

Last summer it emerged via RTV Drenthe that there was dissatisfaction among a group of 40 Indonesian students who were studying and doing internships at Zorggroep Drenthe. They appeared to be active at work six days a week, worked broken shifts and received hardly any internship guidance.

The employment contract with Zorggroep Drenthe stated that they would be fined 1,000 euros if they made negative comments about Zorggroep Drenthe and if they did not report that they were getting into or breaking off a relationship, getting married or divorced, living together or going alone. live or have a child. Zorggroep Drenthe stopped future cooperation within this project a few months after the complaints came out.

The Labor Inspectorate is still investigating the abuses surrounding Indonesian students. It is not yet known when the results of the Labor Inspectorate will be announced.
