SaiPa of the ice hockey championship league starts change negotiations, club tells on their website.
The scope of the negotiations includes all Liiga-SaiPa oy’s permanent personnel from the office, restaurant, shop and maintenance. The release clarifies that the threat of dismissal does not apply to the team’s players, coaching and sports director.
– The measures considered by the company may lead to the dismissal, layoff or part-time employment of up to nine employees due to financial, production and work reorganization reasons, the club explains.
The financial situation of the Lappeenranta club has been worrying for a long time.
SaiPa said in September that it had made an operating loss of more than 650,000 euros in the 2022–23 season. After financial income and expenses, the loss for the financial year was more than 700,000 euros.
Kurumis can be seen in the rink. Last season, the team that was the jumbo in the series has already fallen behind the others in the autumn season. The difference between SaiPa, which is at the bottom of the pack, and HPK, which is ranked 14th in the series, is 14 points.
