“Master of football and life”. This is the unanimous definition that many champions attribute to Italo Galbiati, Fabio Capello’s historic deputy, who passed away last March. Over the years he has also dedicated himself to young amateurs, in particular to Cimiano Calcio. It is precisely this company that is giving impetus to a tournament that serves to honor his memory. The presentation was held in the auditorium of the Allianz tower in Milan, conducted by Simona Ventura. Films imbued with affection alternate with live memories. Ibrahimovic, Ancelotti, Maldini, Galliani, Buffon, Sebastiano Rossi wanted to make their speech known through a video, others such as Filippo Galli, Donadoni, Tassotti, Bergomi and Capello himself participated in person. The most emotional moment, however, is the very sweet letter from Ludovica Galbiati, Italo’s nephew.

During the evening, the tournament formula, reserved for Under 16s, was exposed. Sixteen amateur clubs will compete in the round of 16, with four professional clubs (Inter, Lecco, Milan and Monza) entering the game from the quarterfinals. Furthermore, the final on 17 April will be directed by a referee team from Can. The start is set for Wednesday 7 February. Some prizes were also awarded during the event: to Camarda – on stage accompanied by his parents – the best young person, career awards to Capello, Bergomi, Tassotti and Braida.
