The production company sent an e-mail message to the entrepreneurs of Lapland, in which they said that they would pay their debts.
The Constellation series, which is one of the most expensive European series of all time, was filmed in Finnish Lapland last winter. An international production company left behind a bill of more than a million euros, and Lapland entrepreneurs have been fighting for half a year to get their money.
Helsingin sanomat newspaper says that the production company Turbine Studios announced in an e-mail the night before Saturday that it plans to finally pay the unpaid expenses incurred from the filming to Finnish companies. The payment of debts of more than one million euros will start at the beginning of next week.
Creditors include a dozen companies, such as companies in the accommodation and restaurant industry. The series was ordered by the Apple TV+ streaming service and was shot in January-February in Ivalo and Inari. The entrepreneurs of Lapland are not cheering yet, although receiving the email message was reassuring.
– Only at the point when the money is in the account, do you really dare to sigh with relief. There has been so much rowing and felting in this six months, the entrepreneur of Aurora Estate, which offered catering services to the film crew Heidi Seikkula commented to Helsingin Sanomat.
The parts of the Constellation series filmed in Finland take place in Sweden.
In terms of budget, Constellation is the biggest AV industry production that has been shot in Finland. The series stars a Swede Noomi Rapacewho came to international attention for his starring role in the film Men who hate women.
