The Inspectorate received 95 reports about healthcare providers with false diplomas

Last year, the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ) received 95 reports about care providers who were still working with a false diploma or certificate. Eleven reports were also made about healthcare providers with a false Declaration on Behavior (VOG). That is twice as many as in other years, the government agency reported on Tuesday.

The authority does not know whether the number of reports is the actual number of people working with a false diploma “or is just the tip of the iceberg”.

According to the IGJ, this is partly due to the lack of staff in healthcare. Employers look for personnel through intermediary and temporary employment agencies, which check CVs, diplomas and VOGs. Ultimately, employers themselves are responsible for that screening, according to the IGJ. They are legally bound by the so-called obligation to verify.

“If healthcare providers work with false papers, the safety of patients and clients is at risk,” warns the inspectorate.
