Facundo Manes It was one of the sensations in the last legislative elections, in which I ended up losing by a narrow margin with Diego Santili. And it ended up providing a “fresh air” for the renovation of the space, which later allowed the victory of Together for Change in the province of Buenos Aires, the scenario that is always the mother of all electoral battles.
But many within the opposition coalition still remember that at the beginning of his campaign, the exponent of neuroscience also bet on the “dirty campaign”, when he charged against his rival denouncing that Santilli had the resources of the City of Buenos Aires to its advertising, something that was quickly refuted by Horacio Rodriguez Larreta.
“Manes was awarded an intentionality that he did not have when he said you shouldn’t use state resources for the electoral campaign,” his political partner, Margaret Stolbizer, pointing out that “some felt touched without Manes saying this as an accusation.” Then there was a meeting of some figures with Manes and a truce was signed.
Manes and Santilli were even shown together. But the neurologist, in his aspirations to compete in the internal JXC presidential candidates, now charged against the former president Mauricio Macriwhich generated reactions and a new mistrust towards the current deputy, whom they nicknamed “Infiltration“.
In dialogue with louis majul On Sunday on LN+, Manes considered that “there is no modernization in Argentina without the modernization of the institutions.” And he stated that the country “has institutional populism”. There he applied a criticism to the Kirchnerist populism of the plans, but also to the illegal espionage of the former president and the targeted lawfare.
“The institutions are the key to the economic development of the country… unfortunately there is a pending debt for decades and the government of Macri could not change history”, attacked Manes who later lamented the attacks: “this permanent tension of politics without ideas, attacking people is not going”, he added in dialogue with “Todo Noticias”, a day after describing Macri as “the past” .
“I didn’t imagine it would make such a mess”, complained the radical deputy, who thanked that no one from the party had joined the attacks of the Pro against him: “Publicly it is generating more tension, it seems very prudent that this does not escalate”, he raised, hurt by the attack of “a system you see coordinated, massive”, in relation to the trolls of social networks.
In the UCR, only Luis Petri from Mendoza tweeted against Manes: “I do not agree with the sayings of @ManesF. The former President @mauriciomacri governed respecting the independence of the Judiciary and in the antipodes of populism. Argentines need us more united than ever , fighting for the Republic, building a path of hope,” he wrote.
That attack by fans and JXC’s tweeting troop was the one that applied the nickname “Infiltration“, and highlighted with photographs, his links with Kirchnerism. The best known, from 2013, when his name became famous for being the specialist who treated Cristina Kirchner when she was admitted to Institute of Cognitive Neurology (INECO).
But he is not the only figure of Kirchnerism with whom Facundo Manes had links or shared talks. The neurologist was shown at the time with the head of INADI, Victoria Dondaone of the officials most attacked by the JXC hawks, who highlight on the one hand her permanence in the Government despite the many scandals of her management, and on the other her functionality as a dialectical sword.
Manes also has a good bond with John Caarthe social entrepreneur who created Red Solidaria, who is resented from the Pro for having been an amplifier of the preaching of the growth of poverty and hunger during the 2019 campaign, with a monumental action in the stadium of River Plateand then having lowered the profile and silenced criticism of the current administration.
Also noted for the good dialogue and meetings with the Minister of the Interior, Wado de Pedro, and for being the only one of 116 JXC legislators to refuse to sign the request for impeachment of Alberto Fernández, after the President compared the Prosecutor in charge of the Vialidad Cause, Diego Luciani with the deceased prosecutor Albert Nismann.
“The Macri government came with the obligation to clean up the sewers of the intelligence services, certain aspects of the influence of political power in justice, unfortunately it is a debt that we have to acknowledge,” Manes said and insisted: “I am not stressing Together for Change, on the contrary. Kirchnerism is so serious, pathetic, infinitely worse… The Kirchnerist model is terrible. Faced with that, this remains as a minimum, “he remarked. But in the Pro they do not see it that way.
