The proposal to lower the non-penalized threshold for speeding from 20 km/h to 10 km/h is neither new nor harmful, and United Russia will never support this proposal, said Andrei Turchak, Secretary of the United Russia General Council.
Turchak wished the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov to listen and hear people more often. Liksutov saidthat lowering the non-penalized threshold for speeding to 10 km/h would reduce mortality in car accident in Moscow by 10%.
“We discussed this even before the coronavirus pandemic and came to the general opinion that this measure is excessive. It has nothing to do with security,” Turchak said. This is a proposal to get deeper into the pockets of citizens. As well as technical inspection in the form in which we canceled it, Turchak said.
Putting forward such a proposal means “finally breaking away from the earth and reality,” Turchak believes.
The task of the authorities is to make the life of citizens better, not more difficult, the party leader explained.
The non-penalized threshold for speeding is 20 km/h.
