The Hotel Adlon does not like vegans

The Hotel Adlon is Berlin’s first and finest address. The staff usually fulfills all possible and impossible requests. But apparently the hospitality stops with vegan food.

There is usually something for every taste in the luxury hotel. Franziska Wittke (18) from Frohnau wanted to celebrate her grandfather’s 80th birthday with her family in a few weeks’ time in the “Lorenz Adlon Dining Room” restaurant (2 Michelin stars). She eats vegan herself, so she avoids animal products.

“Our question as to whether it was possible to get a vegan menu was answered in the negative,” she says. Serving food from the other hotel restaurant “Quarré” is also not possible. “There was no justification, only brief answers. I wouldn’t have expected that from a five-star hotel.” She has never had any problems in other high-priced hotels and restaurants.

The Adlon apologizes for the faux pas and wants to sensitize everyone involved to the topic of veganism. Adlon-style employees should have agreed to the request for a vegan dish from the “Quarré”. “Of course, the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin has adapted to vegan nutrition,” says a spokeswoman.

Only in the “Lorenz Adlon Dining Room” are there currently no vegan dishes on the menu. The Swiss star chef Reto Brändli (31) will be the new chef here from May.

Franziska Wittke and her family now want to look for another restaurant for their 80th birthday.
