From the street corner to the idyllic arbor, from the 120-year-old traditional pub to the 100-year-old excursion restaurant.
The operators of the neighborhood pub “Höhers Eck” in Prenzlauer Berg have found a new home: the Bornholm 1 allotment on Bornholmer Straße.
At the turn of the year, the previous operators will take over the excursion and garden restaurant “Bauernstube” in the Bornholm Gardens. The lease agreement was signed on Saturday in Gethsemane Church.
“The allotment gardens are just as much a part of Berlin as the neighborhood bars,” says Robert Ide, chairman of the Bornholm 1 allotment garden association. The farmhouse is run by Andrea Dürre, her daughter Athina and her wife Sonja. “Our wish is to preserve the Bauernstube as a place that has existed for over 125 years,” say the new operators.
Your traditional pub “Höhers Eck” on Rhinower Straße had to close despite 11,000 signatures against the closure (BZ reported). This was preceded by a rental dispute due to complaints from residents. Now things continue for the operators in the Bornholm Gardens. “We are happy and would like to thank the board of the allotment garden,” said the operators.
The previous tenants Marion and Holger Gerber are retiring after more than 20 years. The reopening of the “Bauernstube” is planned for March 2024, with a week of celebrations, readings and concerts.
The excursion restaurant will offer food and drinks all year round and will host public neighborhood and club festivals.
