ulast appointment with the Ruby saga. Tonight at 21.20 on Rai 2 goes on air The hidden jewelthe last of the four films inspired by the novels of the same name by V. C. Andrews. Thus ends the story of the “parentless” girl who, starting from the deep Mississippi, became a woman, wife and mother, pursuing her family origins and her love. After going through a thousand vicissitudes, even in this last appointment he does not find peace. On the road to happinessyet another obstaclethis time, it is represented by tragic events which have their roots in ancient superstitions and voodoo rituals.
The hidden jewel: Ruby’s new balance soon upset
ruby (Raechelle Banno) is now a woman who seems to have found her balance. He lives in a palatial house in New Orleans, inherited from his father (who had abandoned her and who, as a teenager, she desperately sought). She is an established painter, she is connected to her great love of her life Beau (Ty Wood), with whom she managed to marry despite her twin sister Giselle (Karina Banno), who died of an illness, and her father’s new partner Daphne (Lauralee Bell) had hindered this relationship in every way. With Beau she has three children: Pearl and the twins Jean and Pierre. Pearl wants to be a doctor. The twins are so close that when one gets sick, the other gets sick too.
To disturb everything, comes the news that the old retired family cook, Ninais dying and, before the end, absolutely wants to talk with ruby. He wants to warn you about something which he can only talk to her about. Ruby however, at that moment, is grappling with a very important exhibition of hers, she is tempted to leave everything and run to Nina, but in the end she decides to postpone.
The “war” conducted with blows of voodoo rituals
Afraid and frightened, rubywith the support of Beau decides to go to the family ranch to change the air and relax. There, however, the worst happens. Jeanwhile playing with his twin Pierreventures too far into the countryside and is bitten by a snake. Unfortunately it is a lethal wound: the child dies. Mom is desperate. Traumatized little brother Pierre, also because he feels guilty, he wanted to stop Jean, but he didn’t. Partly for this, partly for the strong bond that has always united the two boys, Pierre also falls ill and goes into a coma.
When he finally frees himself and goes to the ex-cook, he discovers it is too late. She died. Ruby becomes very upset. Ancient folk beliefs she grew up with in Mississippi surface, which give you a negative feeling. It’s as if she senses that something terrible is about to happen.
Ruby can’t keep the spirits that rule her head at bay, he convinces himself that what Nina failed to tell her it was just about what happened to her children. That is, he becomes more and more convinced that this destiny of pain has been reserved for her a voodoo ritual done to her by Gladysmother of his ex partner Paul, who committed suicide years earlier because he was shocked by the death of a girl he thought was Ruby (instead it was the twin Giselle). The point is that Gladys he always blamed Ruby for his son’s death and he seems to have reserved a sort of curse for herwhich they now have to pay for.
Thus begins a war of voodoo rituals. Ruby abandons everyone, husband and children, to isolate herself and try to defeat “the evil one”, scared that bad luck could also touch the other members of her family. She tries to get in touch with Paul’s spirit, to find a way to calm him down and regain peace for Beau, Pearl and above all to wake Pierre from his coma. Between spirits, hopes and pain, a new life, truly serene, still seems possible.
