The heirs of the ‘Pinotxo’ of La Boqueria will reopen the bar in another emblematic market of Barcelona

Barcelona will once again have a Pinotxo Bar. After the family and legal soap opera that followed the death of Juanito Bayén, the visible face of the mythical ‘Pinotxo‘ of theto Boqueria, finally his heirs will reopen a bar with the same name of ‘Pinotxo‘ in a new location that they have already signed on.

The stall that housed the old Bar Pinotxo de la Boqueria is now in the hands of a company that he has not been able to keep the name by court order and after the dispute that occurred within the family. In said bar, the photos of the charismatic are kept as a claim Juanitothe ‘Pinotxo’, although the sign had to be removed and the name changed to El Mític Bar. Now, Jordi Asin Bayennephew of the deceased, advances to THE NEWSPAPER that his new stage will begin in another Barcelona market.

Asín has been looking for a location for months. It could not be just any space, but it had to maintain the historical character that has characterized this brand. After various negotiations, this week it has been able to close a contract to open the Sant Antoni Marketa short distance from La Boqueria, already in the district of l’Eixample instead of Ciutat Vella.

Debut in September and same recipes

The new space will be about months in works. The reason is that he has closed the deal with Maria Masclans, owner of two famous cod fish shops and a bar in the Sant Antoni market. The bar that it held (annexed to one of the stores) will also become a commercial space, expanding this activity concentrated in a single point. And on the other hand, the bar license will be transferred to the cod fishery that she had until now at the other end of the market, and that she has transferred to Jordi Asín to locate the new Pinotxo. The new owner thanks Maclans for all the “facilities and support” he has given him to make the ‘rebirth’ possible. In September he will be ready and assures that he will raise the blind with the name of ‘Pinotxo’since he registered the trademark a few years ago.

You will keep the letter and the traditional traditional recipe book, being faithful to the proposal that his grandmother promoted one day, which was transmitted between generations and which he had developed as a chef in recent years: Catalan cuisine, local and market products.

In the future it will be the courts that decide on the matter. They will also have to determine if the transfer that his uncle made without counting on him to another businessman (and for a millionaire amount) was legal or a part should have corresponded to his nephew and his family.
