In southern Berlin everything revolves around apples and pumpkins this weekend!
►Pumpkin and apple festival in the Britzer Garden. Saturday and Sunday it’s all about the delicious autumn plants. It starts tomorrow at 6 p.m. with live music on the fairground stage. The colorful variants can be admired at the big pumpkin show. There is a stage program, eg tomorrow at 6 p.m. “Frankie goes to Liverpool” will play classics from the 60s and 70s. Sunday is children’s action: in the children’s pumpkin land on the meadow at the model boat harbor, the pumpkin is rolled, fished or lifted and the kids have to show that they’ve got what it takes on the pumpkin course. Handicraft elf Brisi invites you to build kites and carve pumpkins. There are market stalls selling handicrafts and goodies. Fairground stage at the lake and meadow at the model boat harbor. Mohriner Allee entrance. Admission adults 1.50/3 euros, children up to 5 years free. Sat 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. www.britzergarten.de.
►Historic apple festival at Britz Castle. The apple harvest is celebrated here for the third time with old music, an exhibition of fruit varieties and stilt walkers, clowns and jugglers. There are delicious things to eat and drink from the fruit, eg mead, donuts and soup. If you like, you can also make yourself useful at the juicer. The program also includes ax throwing and archery, and there’s a giant trampoline and pony rides for children. Knights and Vikings give the event historical charm. The fire show “Araga Mysteria” brings the Saturday evening to a spectacular close. Sat./Sun. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission 6 euros, children 3 euros. Alt-Britz 73. www.schlossbritz.de
