The handball players of Drenth Groep Hurry-Up made short work of low flyer Tachos on Wednesday evening. In Waalwijk, the Zwartemeerders won 22-42.
If the duel in the HandbalNL-League had lasted a little longer, the men of Hurry-Up coach Joop Fiege would undoubtedly have won with an even higher number of goals. The visitors dominated from the start in a match that never became exciting. In the battle to reach the top teams in the standings, Hurry-Up was able to add at least two points.
At the end of the play-offs, the two teams with the most points will play the final matches for the Dutch title. Lions from Sittard, currently the leader with seventeen points, is certainly one of them. For second place are the current number two Aalsmeer, with ten points, followed by Volendam and Hurry-Up, each with nine still in the race. The Drents must win the squatter against Lions in Zwartemeer on Saturday in order not to drop out in the battle. All the more so because the competitors Aalsmeer and Volendam still have a game credit.
Ruben Fiege makes playing minutes again after injury
Hurry-Up was able to play freely against weak brother Tachos, the number last in the HandbalNL-League with zero points. And so the team did. Coach Fiege was able to change after his heart’s content and bring in other players, many of whom scored their goal. His son Ruben made his first playing minutes after a long injury.
Hurry-Up already had a comfortable 6-14 lead at halftime. This was not only due to its own offensive power, but also to the well-functioning cover and goalkeeper Boris Tot. The Croatian closing post, who has been named the best goalkeeper of the BeNe-League for the last two seasons, has defused a large number of shots.
Hungarian Daniel Tako plays a strong match
He was replaced in the second half by his Portuguese colleague David Ferreira, who first had to come into the game cold from the bench. He did not answer a number of hard Waalwijk shots. That didn’t matter much, because Hurry-Up itself could hardly be stopped offensively. René Jaspers, who left after this season, became top scorer with nine goals. The specialist made four of those from a penalty throw.
Beautiful were the long shots from their own half by Sander Bos and Tiago Azenha into Tachos’ empty goal, which was playing without a keeper at the time due to time penalties. The Hungarian Daniel Tako, who was also injured for a long time before, played a strong match. He scored six times. Wouter Pronk, regular at E & O/Hurry-Up in the premier league, did his defensive work and was important in the final phase with three goals in quick succession from the circle.
In the second half, the visitors from Zwartemeer ran further and further out. Hurry-Up won 22-42 in the end, not even flattering.
