– By the time I got to high school and my new school, I really dared to mess around with the barracks style, Aino says.

– I originally got the spark through movies and especially the music world of the 80s, such as Queen and Kika. The aesthetics of these spoke to and inspired me even at a young age. I am especially interested in the big barracks and the style and beauty ideals of the time, reveals Harakka.
– I just recently watched the barracks’ cult movie Flashdance for the first time, which spoke very strongly. I wish I could have lived in that era myself.

The huge popularity of the social media profile has surprised even Aino himself.
– I started uploading my videos to Tiktok when high school started. Suddenly, a video in which I had put my hair in a barracks style started trending there. It was viewed by more than a hundred thousand users. The resulting social media attention surprised even me and gave me confidence to continue making videos, Aino opens the beginning of her social media career.
Nostalgic feedback is dominant
The feedback on Tiktok has been mostly positive and Aino is also asked a lot for hair tips. She has uploaded several videos to her account specifically featuring her voluminous hair and the ways she achieves it.
– Especially older people comment nostalgically on videos, which they say remind them of their own youthful memories from the 80s.
If Aino is recognized on the streets, it’s just as confusing every time. So far, Aino has only done a few commercial collaborations as a social media influencer with individual clothing and beauty brands. This is a bit exciting, but interesting at the same time.

Behind the style
One of Aino’s most important style icons and sources of inspiration is his own mother.
– I get outfit ideas from my mother’s old photos and often wear my mother’s old clothes from the 80s, for example.

In addition to her mother’s wardrobe, Aino hunts for clothes and accessories that fit the spirit of the season from thrift stores.
– My favorite shopping places are, among other things, the points of the recycling store chain UFF, as well as Turku’s SPR container and Puutori’s kirppis, he advises.
When visiting brick-and-mortar thrift shops, he checks at least the jeans racks and the jacket section of second-hand stores.
– I often make discoveries in the denim department and always keep my eyes open for barrack-style denim and leather jackets. I also buy most of my sweaters from thrift stores.

– When it comes to style, I listen to my own intuition and feelings a lot and I don’t follow trends. Blue eye shadow, which essentially belongs to the barracks style, is in standard use, Aino reveals.
– In addition, the old-time Hollywood glamor that is just now on the surface recently also catches your eye.
Showy and large jewelry is also part of Aino’s core style.
– Right now I’m wearing a lot of gold-toned, big earrings and several bracelets.
Aino is also interested in studying creative and visual fields after high school and, for example, the work of a graphic designer is one option that might interest him.
The only hair tips
What about the hair?
Aino always uses hair dryers and hair dryers after washing her hair. She dyes her naturally dark brown hair blonde herself and also grabs a pair of scissors when her hair needs trimming.
– If time is on the cards sometimes, I use faster heat rollers instead of curlers to give my naturally curly hair the right look. This takes about half an hour, he advises.
– Hair style also includes root growth, and that suits me too, and that’s why I don’t stress, even if the coloring interval sometimes drags on.
