The ranking was secured when Sweden defeated Denmark 4–1. Therefore, for Leijoni, the Denmark match is meaningless.
With Monday’s results, it was confirmed that the Lions’ quarter-final opponents will be either Canada or the Czech Republic.
Ultimately, the opposition will be determined when Canada and the Czech Republic face each other on Tuesday. The winner of the match will face Finland in the quarterfinals.
Canada suffered a surprise loss on Monday, when Norway was stronger after the winning goal contest with a score of 2-3. The one point scored by the Maple Leafs ensured that the Lions will face either Canada or the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.
Denmark has a stake in the Finland match. It is just one point behind Group A’s fourth-placed Germany.
