The fire brigade in Groningen rescued a man on Tuesday who had sunk into a fresh, wet concrete floor. The man thought the cement floor was hard and stepped on it. He sank into it and got stuck.

The incident happened in a house on Heymanslaan where construction work was taking place, a spokesperson for the emergency services reported following reports from the emergency services. Daily newspaper of the North

Other people working in the house noticed the man and called the fire brigade. An eight-person fire brigade came to the rescue.

The firefighters managed to free the man – the former occupant of the house – from his approached position. “They had the right clothes on for this kind of job and probably also had some material that came in handy,” said the spokesman.

After the man was freed, he was hosed down outside the house by the fire brigade. Ambulance personnel then took him to the hospital for a check-up. It is unknown if he was injured in his adventure.

The spokesperson said it was a special incident. “It does happen with some regularity that we have to rescue a child who is stuck in quicksand,” he confirms. “But I was not aware of a situation like this.” After the rescue, a new layer of concrete was poured onto the floor.
