The grain sways gently in the wind. Cornflowers, chamomile and poppies stand out against the gold of the culms. “Look, a butterfly”, Jacob van Emst points out. The rasping sound of grasshoppers can be heard among the crops, dragonflies buzz above them. Where his colleagues block the distribution centers and foresee a bitter future, he is hopeful. Van Emst understands the protests and the anger, but he still sees opportunities. “When I see this, it makes me very happy. Isn’t this beautiful? So many things come together here.”
