The Governor of Transbaikalia urged to change the law on trapping animals after the death of a girl
The Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Andrey Osipov set the task of solving the problem of aggressive stray animals on the streets of cities after a dog attacked a child, reported on the portal of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
“The governor has ordered the immediate need to conclude contracts in municipalities for the capture of stray animals. Emphasis was placed on changing the regulatory framework,” said Andrey Lim, head of the state veterinary service of the Trans-Baikal Territory, who was present at the meeting with Osipov.

The authorities of the Trans-Baikal Territory plan to build a network of shelters for captured animals and increase funding for municipalities so that they can catch and keep stray dogs. Chita Mayor Aleksandr Sapozhnikov also supported the idea of amending the law.
The day before, on January 22, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case due to the death of a 7-year-old girl who was attacked by stray dogs. After the girl went missing, her parents contacted the police. The police found her body in a vacant lot with bite marks.
