the Government’s anti-crisis measures

  • Aragonès also announces a payment of up to 250 for rent for young people and a 50% increase in the thermal bonus for vulnerable households

The ‘president’ of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonesannounced this Tuesday the content of the new package of measures to mitigate the effects of inflation in Catalonia which, as EL PERIÓDICO reported, amounts to 300 million euros. The battery of aid, mostly direct, is distributed among families, vulnerable households, young people and SMEs, accompanied by a proposal that advances towards the energy transition. These are the crash plan details:

Due to the increased cost associated with schooling, the Government offers a deduction in the regional section of personal income tax of 100 euros to the families of the students of Infantile 3 and up to fourth of ESO, both of those enrolled in public and private centers, with “medium and low income”, not universally. Thus, it can be claimed by some 973,000 studentsaccording to the calculation of the Executiu, having a total impact for the public coffers of €100 million linked to the approval of the 2023 budgets.

The Execution will increase the thermal bonus by 50%, the aid planned to pay the energy bill this winter, taking into account the rising cost of living. These amounts per household ranged between 41 and 186 euros, and now they will be between 125 and 560 euros, and will be received by 100,219 households who already received the aid. This increase implies 8.8 million euros more at the expense of the Generalitat and, within each house, means being able to acquire between 5 and 21 butane cylinders, depending on the degree of vulnerability. A margin of three months is given from the beginning of the procedure and until the arrival of the money. This measure can be applied immediately because it is contemplated as part of the 2022 budget.

This same week the call for rental aid for young people, up to 36 years old, will be launched. The aid amount is up to 250 euros per month per person, based on their own income and the rental price. The idea is that those who do not enjoy help from the central government can benefit from it. The Generalitat contemplates allocating a total of 29 million euros to this measure from the current budgets.

On the other hand, the government will extend the T-Jove up to 30 years in a subsidized way, which currently ended at the age of 24. This represents a cost of 30 million euros and will come into force according to next year’s accounts.

The Generalitat seeks to accelerate the installation of renewable energy production plants and biogas. A first step is to streamline the procedures for installations of less than 5MW with the digitization of the process and the incorporation of more professionals to reduce the maximum time to authorize projects for renewable electricity generation plants and parks with power greater than 5MW to six months. The objective is that in less than a year the parks can be injecting renewable electricity into the medium voltage electrical network, according to sources from the Executiu.

On the other hand, there is a asbestos removal fund (40 million) with the consequent installation of plates for self-consumption and a line of subsidies for bioenergy projects (25 million), while energy transition offices for SMEs (2.2 million) will be opened.

Another goal is to be able accelerate the installation of renewable energy production sources for self-consumption, with the reinforcement of a line of subsidies to cover all requests with 51.3 million. About 2,000 projects like these are currently authorized, while a year ago there were about 500.

Finally, the Government will try to stimulate energy saving with subsidies to neighborhood communities and companies so that the lights are turned on and off automatically (11.5 million).
