The original validity of these vouchers is 8, 10 and 30 days respectively, provisionally extended to 20 days for the first two and 60 days for the third with the aim of favoring the use of public medium-distance rail services

Renfe, a public company under the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, has once again expanded the expiration of Avant subscriptions, this time until June 30, 2023, in response to the rise of teleworking.

This was approved this Friday by the commission for monitoring the contract between the General State Administration and Renfe, for the provision of rail passenger transport services subject to Public Service Obligations (OSP).

Renfe currently offers three types of Avant Subscriptions, the Plus 10 Card, the Plus 10 Student Card and the Plus Card, aimed at those people, mostly workers and students, who use the high-speed train service on a daily or almost daily basis.

The original validity of these vouchers is 8, 10 and 30 days respectively, provisionally extended to 20 days for the first two and 60 days for the third with the aim of favoring the use of public medium-distance rail services Avant that run on high-speed lines and are subject to Public Service Obligation, compared to other less sustainable alternative modes of transport.

The first enlargement was first adopted in October 2020 as a result of the covid-19 and it allowed the maintenance of passengers who, if the expiration of the passes had not been adequate, could have moved towards other modes of transport. It has already been extended several times due to popular requests, the last one in June 2022.

The Ministry acknowledges in a statement that this expansion has allowed attract more users and has responded to the implementation of teleworking in Spain, thus giving users greater flexibility to be able to use the subscription for a longer period of time.
